Roofboy didn't start behind the decks. He started in front of a camera. Born in Paris in the 80s to mountebank parents — street-theater people — he grew up in a crew where everybody performed something: theater, graffiti, video. A character pulls the crowd better than a face ever will, so he built one. The helmet went everywhere — monuments, freeways, shopping carts, rooftops. The wall below is the proof.

Soundtrack tapes, the theater cafeteria stereo — funk, punk, new wave, hip hop, house, rock, techno, all dissected and stored for later. In the 90s he rapped for about five minutes (-Joke-), got bored, and switched sides of the mic: beats for everyone else — especially his brother Syclone and the group DYSLEXIE. And that's good.
For nearly ten years his bedroom, FOLIMER (rue de la Folie-Méricourt — the mother of madness, where the magic happens), turned out mixtapes, maxis and albums on 4-track cassettes, an Atari 1040ST and an Akai S20. A gold record with French rapper SINIK (NEOCHROME & 609) came out of that room. A Grammy did not. He's fine with it.
Then one night the character and the beats ended up in the same place: a DJ booth. The mask went on, the crowd looked up — and the superhero has been on duty ever since: Paris, Val Thorens, London, NYC, LA.
Today, he is fully dedicated to saving the universe.
